Day 24 of Daily Footprint Project. After writing the last two articles on ‘Biking the Environmental Talk, Part 1 and Part 2, I felt the pressure to follow through, and to go on Craigslist. It really helps to make one’s commitment official. My green pride was at stake, and I had to take action. After looking at several ads and talking to a few prospective sellers, I am leaning towards an old Schwinn woman bike. It would please me to not spend more than $100. Tomorrow, I am to take a look at several bikes. I am getting excited. I am even thinking of giving the bike a name.

I’ve wanted to name my bike, too, but have been unable to select an awesome name. So at the moment, it remains nameless.
Mine will be a French name, I think. I was playing around with a few, today. Although, I need to get a bike first. Not as easy as I thought.
i had 3 schwinns, the first used and hideous in that it had an embarassing big fat cushy seat and very wide fenders vs a sexy spider seat fenderlesss like all the ones my friends had – the second new and brown with delicious sparkles in the paint was my very first large purchase – i saved for 3 years to get that bike only to have my sister hijack it when she went to college. The final bike was a mountain one – chunky brilliant red and something I bought used – my son and I – he in his infant seat rode 5 miles a day in a terrible area very non-condusive to bike riding – I think that is where my bike fears began. I was a nervous wreck with him on my bike and all the traffic. That bike my brother stole for drug money — 11 yrs ago now.
I have great siblings eh??
Never named my bikes – first car was joey and my second husbands car I called the silver fox
I like the name idea
maybe a french word for what it means to you
proud of you
have you noticed that your expenditures while not at the mall are on purpose with your greenness??

Thanks Karen, for your bike stories. One could tell a life story through their bike, I guess . . .
Ironically, my childhood bike was named daisy.
Do you have a name for your bike now?
