Two days ago I wrote about ‘Smart is the New Green‘. This morning, I find a ping from Nature Mom’s Blog linking back to my post with a response from Tiffany, ‘Is it Green or Just Smart?‘. Down in the comments on TIffany’s article, is a note from Sommer indicating in turn, her response to Tiffany with a post about ‘The Green Religion Debate‘ in Green and Clean Mom blog. And the chain goes on . . .
This is what I love most about blogging.
Hello!
I am a mom to be – in about 4 weeks! – and I have to say that i am thoroughly in agreement with the idea of living sustainably being not only smart but a beautiful and important spiritual way of life.
On the note of religion, I have to say that this year I have been pleasantly surprised by the number of religious type people who seem to be aligning themselves with the mission of environmental stewardship. However, I recently caught wind of an unfortunately misinformed campaign by AFA to urge Congress to endorse further raping of America lands for oil, gas and coal http://capwiz.com/afanet/issues/alert/?alertid=11479656&type=CO
Does anyone else find this quite disturbing??? I urged as many people as I could on my email list to go through the AFA website and voice the OPPOSITE opinion to Congress….
I just don’t understand what people are thinking…
> Julie : congratulations !
Regarding your concerns : don’t forget that some people don’t see further than the end of their nose (not sure this is how you would translate that about being short sighted, sorry for my English)
They should think about energy efficiency, but with a Western civilization that has made us think “always more”, this is not that much surprising.
Perhaps a change will occur one of these days. I hope…
Edouard: i hope so too…
This is super, Marguerite! I saw the two posts this morning and thought it was very exciting. I’m glad you blogged about it.
Julie, thanks for calling our attention to an important issue.
I am also with you in rejoicing about the environmental awakening taking place amongst various faith groups. If you don’t know yet about the ‘Renewal’ Project, you may enjoy catching some of their videos on YouTube. I wrote a post about them several months ago.
Happy delivery! As a new mom, I am sure your sensitivity to the environment is heightened. We all so much responsibility towards our children. Thank you for being so aware.
Nissan will start selling battery- powered cars in the U. S. and Japan in 2010, the New York Times reports, making it the first of the major automakers to plug into demand for no- emission vehicles. CEO Carlos Ghosn tells the Times stricter emissions regulations aren’ t the big reason for his company’ s decision. It has more to do with growing demand for cleaner cars. That demand isn’ t limited to the U. S. or Japan, either. He tells the Times that companies like his must invest in clean vehicles as Chinese…
