Based on my success with Technorati, I decided to continue my campaign with another major blogging platform, requesting that they make ‘Green‘ a more prominent category on their site. This time is WordPress‘s turn.
Here is a copy of the email, I just sent to Matt Mullenweg, the man at WordPress:
Hello Matt,
First thanks for WordPress, without which my blog would not be where it is today!
More importantly, as a green blogging queen, I am chagrined that WordPress does not have a dedicated Green category in its Featured Blogs. Hopefully this email will be as fruitful as the one I sent to Technorati last month, and that resulted in a personal comment back of Richard on my blog, along with Technorati listening and making change I suggested to have dedicated Green search.
I look forward to your response, hopefully with a promise of changes.
Thanks,
Marguerite
Let’s see what happens. I will keep you apprised.
I also encourage you to do the same with other Internet venues that you come in contact with. Little by little, you and I can help green the media landscape.
Way to go! There’s tons of green WP blogs out there and it only makes sense for WP to have a green category. Let’s keep it going.

Like with Technorati, amazing that they don’t have one.
Good work!
Thanks Lavelle, thanks Meryn. This is the kind of initiative that requires very little effort – just one email and a bit of followup – and yet if taken on by many can results in an overall greener Web infrastructure.
Only 537 posts tagged environment at the moment, maybe we (well the rest of us) ain’t writing enough? I do have to admit it’s a nice idea though and ‘green’ do cover quite a lot more.
The WordPress.com platform is brilliant and just a few days ago I even found this place here, I wonder under which rock I’ve been hiding =o).
Will start to tag my posts green…well will start tagging my posts…it’s soon been a year now with tags here on WP so I suppose they won’t kill me if I use them.
Good job! *thumbs up*
Peter, I am not even talking about tags. I am referring to the categories featured on WordPress News, which is the page you land on when you log into your blog as a WordPress blogger.
And yes, please do use tags, and relevant keywords, and one good category for each one of your posts!
News and tags, I thought that the news section is a view of what kind of blogs there are on WordPress, if so the tags (and categories) would be an indication of how many active blogs/posts there are in that specific field?
*shrug* kinda irrelevant I suppose, with a [Green] section in the news those that are active will get better coverage and it might even encourage someone just starting up to go with something relating to green living, sustainability and whatnot =O)
If you are a blogging queen, can I be the Joker ? 😛
Very nice idea Marguerite, as usual ! Keep it up !
