Had a good laugh last night, listening to NPR host and his guest, a farmer, having very serious discussion about animal powered farming. It’s not a bad idea, actually, but the choice of words just got to me! I wonder what my grandfather would say:
First Solar, Then Wind, Now Animal Powered . . .

I love this photo, Marguerite, and imagine your Grandad expressing some simple folk wisdom.
How does that expression go? (I think your ancestral tribe may have originated it and my French is way too rusty for me to venture an attempt) = the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Marguerite, that is a fantastic picture. Wow. Thanks for sharing it.
When you have time, could you tell us more of the story of your grandfather and his family? Where in France was the picture taken? What did he farm? What would he have thought about all this climate change problem that we’ve created?
And, of course, could you please let us know how this “animal-powered” stuff worked? Could they not think of a more catchy phrase? How supplied it?
Thanks Paul.
Jeff, you just gave me the idea for my next post.
This picture is one of my most dear pictures.
[…] August 17, 2008 by lamarguerite Yesterday, in response to the picture I posted of my grandfather on the farm, Jeff asked, […]
By having a quick glance of this picture, it just reminded me of a picture of my own grandpa in his parents’ farm in the 1940s as he is taking care of his own horses… (saw it this very afternoon… )
That’s really is impressive. we are having the same background and same thoughts. Keep up the good work and all the best !
(see my comment on the other post for more details…)
Yes, Edouard, when you ask, you will find many people have such pictures in their memory banks. In my next post, I explore what that means for us now.
