Tonight, after a long day working and dealing with several mini-family crisis, I still found the time to visit Twitter, and to read, and write a few tweets. That’s pretty remarkable, when you think of it. I mean, for Twitter. No other networks, no other site’s got that kind of hold on me.
It did not take me long to figure out 10 reasons why I can’t stay away from the little birdie:
- it’s simple
- it doesn’t ask much
- it gives back lots
- it’s always there for help
- it’s gloriously imperfect
- it’s a mirror of all of humanity
- it’s got all the answers – almost! –
- it’s poetic
- it lets me in on the latest news
- it’s alive
Now, I am going to tweet about this post . . .
This is such a twitter-like post. Simple. Effective. Very good job!
Wait until you get hooked on Friendfeed. 😛
I don’t think Friendfeed is a replacement for Twitter, but they’re both very strong models for “asynchronous real-time” interaction. FF and Twitter each allow for different kind of conversations. At this moment, I like FF better, but this may be just a reflection of my current needs.
Actually, I hope someone comes up with a *third* asynchronous real-time interaction model. The more the merrier. 🙂
Nah, I say Twitter all the way. I tried Friend Feed but it didn’t do much for me or my client. Twitter is all of the 10 things you mentioned and more!
Yes, I’m a self-confessed Twitter-holic! I’m a very social person “in real life,” and to me, Twitter is the ultimate in SOCIAL media. It’s so dynamic, so alive…
Marco, you’re making me blush!:)
Meryn,
I am on Friendfeed, but other than using it to aggreagate and broadcast my various online actiities, I have not really gotten into it.
Unlike you, I don’t think the more the merrier. I have a limited social media bandwidth, and can’t deal beyond Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin. With some occasional YouTube.
Sommer, Lynn, yes!!!!!
Ah come on, facebook is sooo 2008. 😉
thank,s
Hi Marguerite,
I am a new twitterer and have to admit that I have yet to work out its true business benefit. I am shamelessly focused at work, and although I love to socialize, I also love to get my work done and get out and play.
How do I use it for business?
